Save the Family's nativity lights up Plas Bellin
Save the Family's annual nativity was once again a fantastically festive event. All the children and young people from the charity took part in a magical production of the nativity story in the Joan Boswell Hall at Plas Bellin Hall in Northop, Flintshire.
Local people, past residents and local business people attended the production which was directed by a lady who used to reside at Plas Bellin Hall some years ago. Angella Rawsthorne the Fundraising Officer for Save the Family said "It was such a brilliant production, all of the kids and young people have put a lot of hard work into making the performance so professional. All the staff at Save the Family are very proud."
A local company called Celynenn Photography which supports Save the Family took photographs of the event so that the homeless families can start to build happy memories of Christmastime. Ioan Said said "We all know the family is the cornerstone of society. Save the family helps homeless families by providing them shelter and life skills so that hopefully, the families never find themselves in that situation again.
"But at the centre of the family are young children who will not only benefit from STF's support, but will then be able to bring those new skills to a family of their own in the future, which is why STF's work is so important and it's impact on society so far reaching. Helping families, helping individual, helping Britain."
Following the performance Edna Speed MBE gave a Christmas message to all who attended and congratulated the children and young people on their achievements.
Furthermore, Brian Bailey the late Lord Mayor of Chester attended the event and presented the charity with a cheque for £2000 to go towards the Save the Family Christmas Appeal. This money will be put towards the continuation of the vital work that the charity does in keeping homeless families together at the most vulnerable time of their lives.
After the performance all guests and production team enjoyed festive mince pies and mulled wine.
Tim McLachlan, CEO of the charity said "All at Save the Family would like to thank all of their supporters for their amazing support during 2009 and would like to wish them all the best for New Year"
