Golf Lady Captain presents STF with cheque

A local homeless families charity has been presented with a cheque for £7,400. Save the Family was the lady captains chosen charity at Tarporley Portal Premier Golf Club for last year. Judy Piper, the lady captain and Morris Legge the Captain have worked extremely hard to organise and execute fundraising events for the charity, including flower arranging events, walks, and a charity golf day all raising money to help keep homeless children together with their parents.

The prestigious golf club was the venue of a fantastic golf day in September 2009, raising over £2000 for the charity. Judy Piper is a long term supporter of Save the Family and plans to continue her support with helping organise future fundraising golf days in aid of the charity.

Tim Mclachlan, CEO at Save the Family said me "I was absolutely delighted to visit the very friendly club to thank the members personally for their generosity and interest in the work of Save the Family. It?s always a pleasure to speak at the club which has both wonderful facilities and wonderful members."

The fantastic amount of money raised throughout 2009 by Judy and the supporters at Tarporley Portal Premier Golf Club is to go towards Cotton Hall Farm, our proposed new centre for homeless families which we hope to start construction on this year.

We are a charity that helps the whole family once they have been made homeless. Instead of the children being taken away and put into care, staff at Save the Family work holistically with each of the families they support to address the causes of their homeless and to resettle in the community and not become homeless again.

If you can donate money or choose Save the Family as your charity of the year please contact Angella Rawsthorne on 01244 409100 or email angella.rawsthorne@savethefamily.uk.com .
