Up Days Down Days has won the prestigious Chethams Library Prize 2009. Up Days Down Days was created in collaboration with families living at Save The Family's centre in Plas Bellin, Northop. Produced by Catriona Buckett for her Masters degree at Bolton University, the book is an intimate portrayal of the lives of four families. Their thoughts, feelings and fears are recorded along with photographs captured of their everyday lives. The book combines Catriona's photography with photographs captured by each of the mums and dads. Winning the prize means a copy of Up Days Down Days will now be kept and on display at the library. Chethams Library in Manchester is a historical/scholarly library which boasts, among other things, as being not only the oldest public library in the English speaking world, but also as the place where philosopher Karl Marx carried out extensive research while in Britain.
