Cotton Hall Farm

Cotton Hall Farm is situated near Christleton, Chester and its development is based on our main centre for homeless families, Plas Bellin Hall.  We need your support to raise £550,000 to complete Stage 1 of this project, which will provide homes for 30 more homeless families.

Stop Press announcement on 17th April, 2010

Following the generous support of many kind donors, Save the Family is delighted to have secured enough funding to start the construction works at Cotton Hall Farm. Tim McLachlan was delighted to announce this news on behalf of Edna Speed at the Chester Lions Club Golden Jubilee Gala Dinner at the Chester Racecourse on 17th April, 2010.

We still need more funding to complete this project and after three years Save the Family is delighted to announce the start of this new centre for homeless families.

Please revisit this page for details of our events to mark the start of these works.

On behalf of Edna Speed and all of the Save the Family, thank you to everyone who has brought this pioneering project to fruition.

Stage 1 of the site development is the conversion of the farmhouse and North Barn into 14 residential units, staff accommodation and a Children's Centre.  Stage 1 will also stabilise the West and South Barns ready for Stage 2.

The total cost of this project is £1.1 million and we have already raised £450,000. We need to raise £550,000 and can begin construction as soon as the funding or financing have been secured.

Stage 2 of the site development is the conversion of the West and South Barns into 12 residential units.  The total cost of this project is £1.2 million.

Stage 3 of the site development is an enterprise and assembly hall which will replicate the successful work already underway at the Joan Boswell Hall at Plas Bellin, and focus on arts projects, dance, drama, music, and sports. These sessions enable residents to address deep personal issues and also to develop social skills which will help them to re-settle back into their communities where they can contribute socially and economically.

Each of these projects are independent and the development of the site is akin to Plas Bellin Hall where each project complimented the others and enhanced the site and services we are able to offer to resident homeless families.
